Anyone have a preferred degreaser they use to clean out the engine bay compartment? Don't want to hurt the gel coat. Thinking of using simple green. Thanks!

  • Anything not lacquer based should be ok I think. I like purple power.

  • I've tried that before and it discolored the paint on the motor of another vehicle. Maybe just my luck but don't want to take any chances.

  • Fred, I never had an issue; but since you did, I would go with something else.... there are many more out there,

  • Thanks Dave. Just don't want to ruin the paint or the gel coat. So I'll look for a degreaser that doesn't have lacquer.

  • Simple green is perfect. Use a power washer but be careful around the engine

  • Scott, I was just going to do the degreaser and a soft bristle brush with the garden hose. I've never like power washers for that simple fact of blowing through a motor or gaskets.

  • Don't spray the motor, only engine bay.

  • Simple green is fine, but keep in mind its a concentrate. So it needs to be diluted.

  • Hey Steve, I'd actually just by the pre-diluted small bottle. No need to have it in bulk. Thanks though!
