    • This is what I started with. $130 barn find.

    • Great find! Do have a vintage events to ride?

    • you

    • Now that's it's finished I will

    • Very nice

    • Nice. I bought mine already restored.

    • This is the cleanest it will ever be. I built it to ride!

    • damned nice job!

    • Awesome looking IT400, I had a 78 & 79, they never looked that nice. Working on my 82 yz490 right now - trying to figure out how to change the kick-starter gear/ assembly.

    • From memory...your going to have to pull the clutch basket in order to remove that kick start assy.

    • Ok - thanks, I have everything else off, will the clutch basket come off with just taking off the center bolt_?

    • Center nut. Remove all 6 or 8 slotted head bolts holding the clutch plate assy then remove the nut holding the clutch basket in. You'll have to bend the lock tab washer before you can loosen the nut.

    • Thank you kindly, will give it a shot Monday after work...

    • I really like that. Is it hard to kick over?

    • No, '76 has the auto compression release when you kick.

    • And starts like an IT! 3 kicks cold max. First warm.
