Here is my bass again, made in Taiwan 1991, the the precission pickups have DiMarzio engraved, under the woofer cover it looks like the one in the ltd 3, a double coil.

    • the Ltds had the switch, like the WIFE bass had one time (broken off at some point).

    • my Ltd was made in Taiwan. my Ltd II was made in Japan.

    • I just took out the Precissions, I've never handled pickups before, but when I tried to take out one, I felt like it was stuck with the other, so I removed both of them togheter... only to find out it was actually the magnets that attracted each other. Enough to hold one while the other is held by the attraction

Question for the Aussies — Yamaha FZ6R Owners

    Question for the Aussies,

The 2013 6R was advertised as having 30 something % more power (or thereabouts) than the 2012,

Is this 'increase' just for the learners ( restrictor was opened a little? - doesn't feel it?)

Or, is the actual bike been tuned overall with the increase?

Hey guys I recently took a ninja 650 for a test ride. And it s not restricted — Yamaha FZ6R Owners

Hey guys, I recently took a ninja 650 for a test ride... And it's not restricted... So I'm thinking I might look at purchasing that instead of the fz6r - now I'm confused....

    • Matthew, HP, weight, fuel mileage, seating.... you name it, these bikes are near identical. Neither one is a bad choice.

    • I love my 09 fz6r and I have fz6 cams I'm going to install. I also know fz6r insurance was 1/4th the price of a r6

    • Just like to mention, you dont have to buy a de-restrictor plate, all you have to do is bend the tab bock on the original plate where it stops the throttle, easy to do and if you want to sell it later on you just bend it back again. Mine is un-restricted and it flys, im not a fast rider but i have taen her just over 200Kms and she still had more....

I ve got a quick question on oil changes — Yamaha V-Star riders

I've got a quick question on oil changes!

i have a 2013 v star 650. its got around 3,500 miles on it. So yeah, barely get to ride it. I did the first oil change a little over the 800 mile marker back in january.

Last week i took it to a shop and the guy told me he wouldn't change oil on bikes unless it had at least 5,000 miles because he wasn't sure if it would void my warranty. I said "ok cool. no problem. thanks dude"

he also told me that it was too early to do an oil change. Though my manual tells me either 4,000 miles or every 6 months. It has been 6 months, but i am nowhere near that 4,000 mile mark that yamaha recommends. To this he said "when changing your oil it has more to do with mileage than time. count your oil changes by the miles you ride rather than the months." What are some of your opinions on this? Should I get my oil changed every 6 months even if i ride only 2,000 to 3,000 miles in that time? or should I reach at least 4,000 miles before changing my oil?

Oil change question on a Vstar 650 I did my first oil change this afternoon... — Yamaha V-Star riders

Oil change question on a Vstar 650... I did my first oil change this afternoon and all went fairly smooth (even got my two boys to help) however when I was done and ran the engine for bit, I checked the sight glass and I think I over filled it. I warmed the engine up prior, drained for a good 20-30 minutes and filled with 2.9 quarts (equivalent to 2.8 L). I had someone hold the bike level for me but when looking I don't see any gap at the top of the glass at all. Should I go through the trouble of loosening the the plug and draining some out?

    • How to know when reserve kick in?

    • You get a slight pulling feeling from your throttle, and like a bubbling sound from the engine, ultimately the engine will stop and die, so once you get that feeling/sound you should switch your reserve on and get to a petrol/gas station asap. If not, happy days!! :)

    • Orite thanks

Ken Marsh shared a post to the group: Yamaha V-Star riders. — Yamaha V-Star riders

So in Monday, 8:03pm (below link) I got good advice to what appeared to be a fouled plug problem. Got some Star Tron put in in the tank... for my Yamaha 1300 V Star. In talking with dealership service manager he thought all sounded good... He told me to ride it for about 80 miles, should be in good shape by then with Star Tron run through it.

So today jump on the bike today... Runs rough... First couple miles or so, then starts getting worse running on one cylinder... after four miles I decide to limp home. Finally get home on one cylinder all the way... Park my bike in the garage...

Get off, smell something hot burning... Look at my exhaust cover bright blue (normally polished chrome) look inside the exhaust cover - the exhaust itself is a bright molten ORANGE HOT!!!!

So I am now guessing a block exhaust??? The bike is going to be towed to dealership on Monday.... BUT curious on thoughts. anyone else have a similar type problem with their 2009 V Star 1300 Tourer. I have about 10K miles the bike. Thank you.

    • Yea its nice being able tonchange the stiffness though for when u wanna ride hard or if u wanna cruize

Me: "Okay, good. It'll take me an hour to get there, so please hold a couple of them".

    AZD: "Okay, I will.

I get on my motorcycle and make the 1 hour drive to the AutoZone in Mansfield. I walk in, and someone behind the counter asks, "Can we help you?"

Me: "Yeah. I called an hour ago about the spark plugs".

AZD: "Here you go".......... Hands me NGK spark plugs.

Me: "These aren't E3 spark plugs".

AZD: "They cross reference the E3 spark plug number".

Me: (astonished and looking at the guy in disbelief) "You told me YES when I asked if you carried E3 spark plugs, so I just drove A FREAKING HOUR TO GET HERE".

AZD: "Sorry. I thought you wanted NGK plugs that were the cross reference to them".

    I own a fz6r I hate the fz6r — Yamaha FZ6R Owners

    I own a fz6r-I hate the fz6r

I love the way it gets looks from people.

I hate the lack of power

I love the way it's totally drivable in traffic.

Who the fuck drives a sportbike reasonably In traffic honestly? I mean come on people.

I love how the fz6r has a shortage of aftermarket parts.

    Really? I was bullshitting.

I love how the fz6r received a lot of attention from yamaha.

    See above.

I love how every other bike is faster than my bike, well maybe not a ninja 250 or 300.

    See above.

I love the looks of my bike.

I really do love the looks.

I love the fact that an fz6r is a big ole piece of shit?

Actually it's a reliable, albeit slow, generic motorcycle.

It's a turd, you can shine it a but but it's a turd. Plain and simple. A big ole turd.

    • JBPro is great if you are just an end user, PCV is nice if you want to buy the add-ons to tweak, etc...

    • I prefer my pcv. I've always been a powercommander fan, I had a pc3 on a 07 Suzuki boulevard m50 and loved it. I like how I can tune pcv with auto tune, use a quick shifter, have a live data screen, tune for each gear, etc. when you upgrade bikes take off the screen, auto tune, and quick shifter and put it on your new bike buy a pcv for the new bike and put on your accessories...

    • Yeah, if you have already invested in the accessories the pcv is superior in features. Just stating that out of the box the jbpro offers a bit more.

Valeu a dica.

    Mustang Daytripoper. Initial report:

The seat went on quite easy. I think the look is amazing. Really sleek lines. Simple to put on. If you're looking for the comfort of the Mustang Wide Touring Seat or the Ultimate seat, this is not the one for you. It's a much harder feeling cushion. There's a lot less foam which is why it doesn't raise you up an inch like the Wide Touring Seat. In fact, I felt a bit further back ( Very little bit )than stock. I really need a lot more seat time before I can comment on the comfort. The initial feeling was not as comfy as the stock seat( It's harder feeling ) but that's not why I got it. Comfort was never an issue ( at the start of a ride ). My butt is numb and on fire after 40 miles on the stock seat. I'm hoping this seat will be good for 100+. More as I test it on longer rides. Mother nature didn't approve me for a solid test today.

    • Nice one. Have you arranged for the NSW road authorities/whatever to have your bike removed off the LAMS list?

    • i have moved to queensland and my rego runs out in october, so doing it then:)

    • Oh ok.

make sure you do it before you go to get a roadworthy or whatever passes for one up there..

as you may find you have to take all the external performance mods off to pass, as LAMS bikes can't have any performance mods at all even if you're on full license..

..Which really matters if some egg in a cage Smidsys you automatically take at least partial blame for the accident due to riding an illegally modded bike & insurance may refuse to pay out as well.

    • Looks great

Since we are in the subject somewhat, I want you guys to see the att that her in Argentina is being sold at what would be around USD$6500

It's being there since I bought mine at least, aroud two years ago, going up in price every two months or so (in ARS, it hasn't even kept the same USD price since then).

It claims to be "the original, one of the 300 limited edition, not the black hardware serialized edition you can find anywhere". The usual BS everyone spits on attitudes.

And to be honest, that blue finish with those fret markers look horrible XD

How much would you pay for this?

With regard to the New BS EBS pedal has anyone tried solderless patch cables... — YAMAHA Attitude Ltd

With regard to the New BS EBS pedal, has anyone tried solderless patch cables and if so, what's Your verdict? Have considered solderless only because you can customize to the desired length for the pedalboard.

    • George L's are great for pedalboards.. they are small and you can get the pedals REALLY close together if needed.

    • Thanks Jon, I have just ordered 2 kits from my local dealer:)

    • I agree with Dan. A passive cable cannot add anything only remove and if it seems to add treble it's probably a more transparent cable than the other ones. However George L's doesn't change my sound a bit. :-)

Do any of you wheelie on your 6R. Is it difficult — Yamaha FZ6R Owners

Do any of you wheelie on your 6R? Is it difficult?

    • Ok excuse the post then.

Also I have reason to beleive canada has the restriction on the 6R can you confirm ?

    • Yes, it is not difficult to do wheelies on the 6R. You can power wheelie from 1st to 2nd but if you want to do a full balance point wheelie you will need to clutch it up. As Matthew pointed out though, when doing wheelies you need to be careful how you bring the bike back down.. you can blow out fork seals, wear out steering head bearings prematurely and with clutch wheelies even wear out your clutch prematurely.

    • I grew up on dirt bikes, and over the last few years have been on cruisers - BUT i took a FZ6R for a test ride not so long ago and i nearly did a wheelie without trying - so it couldnt be that hard.

No bueno the 14 20 impeller seems to run my boat at higher rpms but it still... — Yamaha Boat Owners

No bueno the 14/20 impeller seems to run my boat at higher rpms but it still cavitates I'm leaning towards the grease inside the anti cavitation cone and the bearings, I had to get the impeller put on by a boat shop since u didn't have a vise and I don't think they put new grease in the cavity where the shaft slide through hoping this is the culprit

    • If you had watered down grease in the bearings then I would replace as well

    • i had the same problem and turned out to be the ride plates .when they get older the seals go bad take them off fill everything with a marine silicone and put them back on.

    • Glad to report that I sealed the gap with 3m 4200 clear sealant and took the boat out with NO cavitation

Just FYI for all the V Star 1100 riders out there that don't know about this resource. The following site has all the combined knowledge of the owners and modifiers of our bike bikes in one place. All the info has been tested and reviewed and I have yet to find something bad on here. With that being said, nothing is guaranteed and repairs must be at your own risk. I have jetted my carbs, adjusted my valves and tuned my bike and gained much knowledge from this website!! Lots of links and how to's.

Kung pang old mio. Tenks much

    So I got me a 2nd bike today 2001 Yamaha XJR1300 — Yamaha FZ6R Owners

    So I got me a 2nd bike today, 2001 Yamaha XJR1300.

    What a beast!

    106hp @ 9k rpm

    100NM Torque @ 6k rpm.

    250kgs wet weight.

The engine braking is reminiscent of the FZ6R.

    5 gears instead of 6

Rather better suspension than the Fz6R.

It is more of a handful in the twisties, it does need to be told where to go, whereas the FZ6R just reads the mind. But it does hold the corners very well.

The wind resistance at full throttle on this big naked in 4th gear from 6k rpm is enough to give the feeling that ones arms are about to get ripped off the body! But man it gets to 120mph quick..it's a struggle to find the strength to pull in the clutch to upshift & hang on at the same time!!

All this with a pillion on the back :)

It's not in the league of supersport bikes, but I don't care :)

Shit, what else can I say..Valentino Rossi owns one.

Btw, I have names for both of them:

    Fz6r - Weasel

    Xjr -Baboon

..yes, a certain cartoon played a part in the choice for each name.

    • Congrats!!

    • Oh & did I mention its got YZF-R1 front anchors as standard, & they are really freakn good!

The FZ6R stoppy things really are rather puny in comparison.

    • Rear brakes generally are most of the time.

Today was my first ride with my new ThrottleBoss- I'd been having a lot of cramping and hand/wrist pain. The ThrottleBoss really helped. I also bought a pair of Qwi Nerve Protection Gloves: They were absolutely worth the $27. The gloves adjusted the way my hands sit on the grips so I was able to hold on with my palms rather than wrapping my fingers all the way around tightly. Between the ThrottleBoss and Qwi gloves- I was able to keep a relaxed, very comfortable stance during my entire 45-minute commute to work. I highly recommend both products!!

About to do the apes install on my baby pretty soon as you all may know — Yamaha V-Star riders

About to do the apes install on my baby pretty soon as you all may know. However I am at another road block. I want to do the internal wiring, but on my stock risers there is no hole to allow for the wiring to come through. Rather than spend $ on another set of risers, can I just drill into the bottom riser to allow the wires to flow through? I don't see too many issues with cracking and/or load in the center. Hell, all the aftermarket risers are separate anyways...(I know any advice given here isn't legal and/or official advice)
