The 1300 Deluxe is designed to "tour"......We have plotted our 1st 2015 long distance trip and while it's still a work in progress it's really close. We are still rethinking our packing but we're convinced that with the saddlebags and a tailbag, we can go forever. Southern Utah with 6 national parks and about as many monuments.....riding all the scenic byways......So much to see you can't do it all in 14 days from where we live, but if we missed something please point it out.........The planning isn't done until the trip begins in early June... .......it will all be on our blog at www.2vegans2wheels.com soon .....Have a great summer !!!! Oops it won't upload word.doc files.....I guess I have to take a photo of the printed itinerary..........more to come ......this is how we load for a long distance ride.....

Reservations are confirmed and we'll be leaving May 28th........

  • If it was designed to tour it would of had a trunk, Bigger tank, and cruise. The only tourer yamaha made was the royal star. Being a strat owner. I was very dissapointed when they removed the strats roadstars and their only toirer the royal star from their line ups. While the 1300 is a fine bike it left yamaha lacking. Everyone expected them to step up. And they stepped down. Many jumped ship. Or just refused to buy and kept what they had.

  • I see your points Art, I guess they didn't have enough market share to continue those models, at least in their eyes. I've never needed cruise control, although there are sometimes I would have used it. We rarely ride on freeways, even covering thousands of miles in a trip, that's just how we ride. The tailbag in the photo is equal to or larger than the trunks available that we looked at. And while the tank certainly could be larger, we get a little over 200 miles and it's never been a problem. It's the best (only) thing we have, so we make it work. Yellowstone, Glacier and Grand Tetons are in the works for late July. I'm sure I would appreciate all those features if they were available !

  • They are but its all diy
