Wife and I rented a HD Softtail Classic this weekend while vacationing in Vegas.

Nice low centre of gravity, made slow tight turns a breeze and the seat was comfortable for the both of us. That's all the nice things I can say.

I didn't like the single blinkers on both handle bars. The motor's rattle was to damn noisy. Found it severely lacked the low end torque of the VStar and I had no confidence in the bikes power when it came to passing. It felt under powered with the two of us on it and it was just shy of 1700cc's

Worst part was when we drove down the Vegas strip and got stuck in traffic. Both my wife and I got minor burns on the backs of our legs from the heat pouring off the air cooled motor. Our next rental while on vacay won't be a HD. Missed not having my VStar...

  • No low end torque??? Really??? I thought that was their claim to fame! I have never ridden a Harley, but I would have expected mounds of low end grunt.

  • I owned a 2005 Electra-Glide. Nice bike. Fun to ride. But it is not the same as my V-Star 1300 D. I won't "bash" Harley. But I will say I prefer Yamaha hands down. My bike now.

  • And here's the old one. As I said. Nice looking, but I'll take my Star any day!

  • Paul Currie - this was my first time riding a HD and every time I pulled away, I made comment on it being gutless. It was starting to piss off my wife
