Looking to upgrade my SW Motech panniers for a Shad system. I have a Givi top box with their fitting installed. Is anybody running a hybrid system like this and would the Shad frame be an easy swap?

The fitting instructions on the Shad site shows you are meant to drill through the bodywork but looking at members' installed photos don't seem to show anything like that - happy to have some further advice.

So the great guy, well he's "ok" (Richard Racebikebitz) have kindly given us a 15% off discount code for the Tracer Samco pipes.

Yeah I took an age to actually get around to asking them, but I was enjoying being the only person with kick ass pipes!

The code TRACER15 works with all pipes so if you have a different bike you want pipes for then use it for that as well!

Can only find a crap pic of mine for now, but they do look good!

Palmer Products screen adapter review by me. No, I'm not posting the video again as that is fast to embarrassing. I have taken some stills though...

The screen adaptor is really really good - even with the standard screen. Having done nearly 200 miles since fitting it, i can safely say what a difference it is making. Far less buffeting around the head and front end bike stability is improved. Phone/SatNag is now mounted in portrait format, is easy to read and doesn't impede on the clocks at all.

It looks good and works well. Really really happy with it.

My car is sick, so "had to" take the Tracer out for a ride today. Luckily had time to take the scenic roads. Hmm, slight yump in the road, 4th gear, TCS on (not ridden much for the last few months), up comes the front wheel, and keeps rising til I roll off a bit.

So, it's the 2015 model, original shock (tiny bit of rust), nearly 8000 miles. Will adjusting the shock keep the front wheel down? No budget for new bits at the mo :( . I like the Tracer's lairy character, but I'm sure it's getting harder to keep the front wheel on the road.

Keep looking for bits I want to buy for my bike but after hearing all these issues popping up wonder if I'm better saving the money to fix it when it goes wrong. Bike is out of warranty now but from the sounds of it yamaha not doing a good job for them still with it. Some success on warranty for some others getting turned down then a long wait and no bike to use. not good Mr yamaha how many complaints needed from owners for them to take notice and what about the poor owners out of warranty it's obviously a design issue everyone having same faults.

Hello guys I ve got my Tracer 900 deliveried last weekend — Yamaha MT-09 Tracer Tracer 900 FJ-09 Owners Forum

Hello guys, I've got my Tracer 900 deliveried last weekend.

I've changed the original tyres to Michelin Pilot Road 4 and got the Yoshimura R77 for some better sounds.

A special thank to DiMotive Lowering kit Di-LK-YA-02, it made the seat height to 815 mm and it is pretty better fit to me.

              Completely satisfied ! Thank Yamaha.

I'm wondering wheather if I should respect absolutely the break-in period ?

I read on user manuals that I should avoid prolonged operation above 5600 rpm before the engine reaches 1000km. But I've also heard somes guys on internet that I should increase high rpm's from time to time, to get the cylinder smooth all the way, even much more rpm's than the manufacturer limit.

What should I do ? Any advice please !!!

Good luck and have fun on roads to all of you!

              Tks.

                Re: my exhaust mod thread...

one of the members (well 3 actually) asked us to do the same to his exhaust, he bought what he was informed is a Tracer exhaust, shipped it to us only for us to discover it is an MT09 exhaust.

If you intend to buy a spare system to modify make sure it is a Tracer exhaust, the MT09 system has a larger exit pipe shroud that fouls against the center stand/bracket.

It is possible, as you can see by my video, but a lot more work and you'll need a Tracer shroud as that also needs some modification for the 50mm exit pipe to fit.

A bit indulgent (well it is my birthday tomorrow ;) ), fitted a Cruise Control from MCC in Australia although I bought mine via the UK reseller. Went for the Super Tenere switch block which has added to the price but does make it look like it came from the factory like that (wish it did!)

Took me a while to install it (5 hours), partially because I'm a slow coach and to my surprise it all worked first time. Only had a short test run, think I can get very used to it.

So, i bought a tracer which had a givi windshield fitted. The seller also gave me the original screen fitted, that I now want to install, because its getting hotter and I want to feel the wind :)

Problem is, after removing thi givi and installing the original bracket/support, i now have the windshield, 4 silver bolts and two spacers (that look weirdly brand new), and I cannot see where the spacers should go, and the bottom two silver bolts cannot be fully tighten because they hit other stuff in the back (as shown in pictures).

Can you guys confirm me if this bolts are the original, and if so, how should I install the original windshield?

                    Thanks a lot, ride safe.

Now don't even fire up. Dash is on but no gear indicator showing. Battery has been on trickle charge. Any ideas??

Best bang for buck shock for the tracer is? Need to be able to adjust pre-load without removing the shock.

Essentially with myself at 107kg and the wife at 72kg we're close to the max weight on the bike and the rear shock doesn't cope. We keep scraping the center stand on decent corners, so I need something better.

I'm dirty bloody poor, so bang for buck. Compression and rebound as separate adjustments highly preferred.

                        Cheers :)

Dripping and steaming after a short ride

All, just took the bike for a spin to get it up to temperature and when I got back and got off, there was a fair bit of steam coming from the engine and it was dripping underneath, enough to make a puddle. Any ideas what this could be, coolant maybe? The bike's only done a couple of thousand miles and has had its first service. Next one, I guess it's not wise to ride it until this is sorted?

                          Cheers

Do they make a worthwhile difference, and can they be customized to race exhausts? (Thinking of getting a black widow full system). Any reccomended places to get the ecu flash done? (i'm in england) ta :)

DIY 6000 mile service today, took ages to get to the plugs, which didn't even need cleaning or gapping. Throttle sync easy in comparison, just the no 1 vacuum pipe is hidden away. A few tips, when taking of the tank, undo the two bolts on the tank, not the allen screw on the frame, the latter can cause the tank to drop onto the frame and damage it, protect the frame with rags anyway when taking off or putting the tank back on to protect it. To get the vacuum plug back on the no1 pipe, put it in the ring end of a no7 spanner, easy to get it back on this way. Throttle bodies only needed tweaking a tiny bit, probably could have left then. When syncing the throttle bodies, I put the tank on as normal and propped up the back with a 5' piece of wood, this gives plenty of room to make the adjustments.

Hi, I'm fitting a pair of Givi engine bars (TN2122-KN2122) to my 2017 Tracer and wanted to know has the 2016 model got a bolt that goes right through to the other side near the gear shift. Do you take the long bolt out and does anything drop. I was even toying with the idea of cutting a slot in the bottom hole in left hand side engine bar so not removing the bolt but just loosing it and pulling it partly through. Cheers Dave

Further to last weeks review of the pyramid plastics belly pan - I've now come to the conclusion that while it looks great on the bike, it sits to low to be practical,

These scratches underneath have me worried that if I hit a large enough rut or object, the impact could force the bracket (picture 2) and sheer the bolts that attach it from the engine casing

Anyone thinking of lowering their tracer i can recommend the following accessory. They are good quality and 1/6 of the cost charged by lust racing. I fitted mine before Christmas last year. I haven't altered the front forks at all and the bike still turns in nicely as well as being a little more stable in a straight line. The bike also looks better with the back lowered slightly. They are a doddle to fit, dont be put off by the "made in china" tab.

While I was there a guy came in with his wheel he got a puncture called the rac they came out and plugged it for him. He rode his bike home and thought it felt a little strange but he put it down to being plugged. Imagine his shock when he got home looked at his bike an seen all these eggs in his tyre all the way around.

There are new ones available bit have not being run in and most have gone to customers all ready, there was not much they could do. They have no idea how long the part is on back order from Yamaha so not sure what to do.

Am tempted to cancel the pcp and give the bike back.

                                              Hi,

I will be pushing on 8,000 miles before I go on a summer tour of Norway (approx 5,500 miles in total). This will mean my 12,000 mile service will fall somewhere in Sweden...

What do I do? Do I have the 12k service ridiculously early or late?

I favour having a small service completed before I leave and accept the 12k will be late but... How will this effect any warranty?

Also, how long should I expect from OEM chain and sprockets - given I am not the best at chain maintenance... Should I consider replacement before I leave or take a chance that 14,000 miles is MORE than acceptable.

                                              Dilemas...

I don`t know if I should buy the same battery the bike had on stock (Yuasa YTZ10S) or if I should buy a Lithium battery.

Any one in here have lithium battery on tracer?

I don`t run a lot, sometimes it takes 2 months to do a run.

Not really tracer speciffic, but: Living in southern Norway, should I tour my own country for two or three weeks. Or would you recommend take the ferry to Denmark and set destination Alps, Italy, Slovenia or what ever.

Touring Norway, traffic is less dense, weather is quite variable but we have lot of nice mc roads.

Touring central Europe means more traffic, warmer weather, and needs more planning. But looking at all those touring youtube videos out there, tells me that there is a whole world to be explored.

And since travelling solo, I don't like the thoughts of snapping clutch wires, cooling pump leaking, cct brake down etc. Done 30 000km on her. So have a feeling one of those thing would likly happen when in the middle of no where on a Europe tour.

                                                  Norway tour or Europe tour?

No one loads their bike with tent and camping gear for a Europe tour?

                                                  Thank you for any advices!

Just noticed that my coolant is way to low , 3 weeks after a 12 , 000 mile service , so I'm off to Bristol to get some as I believe it should of been topped up at the service and they have agreed to give me some coolant , but their comment ' we think its the pink stuff that we use ' is a tad worrying !!!!!

No leaks so its not that water pipe going like other people are suffering from.

I'm debating getting the two brothers exhaust, I know it's hard to find something that fits with the center stand which is a must. It's really hard to find fj09 exhaust on the internet, found one forum but they only mentioned maybe 3 exhausts.

I'm aware of all the discussions about the wind problem and screen solutions. I've tried several screens already and when I try to feel the wind that hits my helmet from the sides, it seems to be comming from there. I also understand that taking h/guards off helps, but I like the way they look. So: do theese plastic panels help? Who has tried? Hm?

Riding home from work this morning, 6c nice and fresh, my visor doesn't fog up but my glasses do all the time. Normally they clear when I'm up to speed but today they just wouldn't clear at 70mph, visor up or down it didn't matter. To be honest it was dangerous.

Today I have brought myself an one owner 4000 miles 15 reg model. Has come with a few extras heated grips,Yamaha panniers and Akrprovic Exhaust system, so after a 212 mile ride back from Newcastle to Staffordshire what do I think. Pretty awesome the engine is amazing lots of plus points, seat is rock hard though so thats getting sorted first. It has a new rear tyre Bridgestone battleaxe but the original front which has no feel at all and the front seems to have been set up very hard but apart from those small points I am really looking forward to getting some miles in on my new best friend.

I,ve taken the LED spots and the Denali soundbomb horn off my old bike(Both wired up with relays) Is it possible to wire in one or both of these into the spare connectors without needing a relay. If not has anyone fitted a "Fuzeblock" to their Tracer(Don't know how much room is under the seat) as my previous bike(Versys 650) was a mess of wiring under the seat with having too many accessories.

They have ordered all the parts and fitting soon. They said would try and get rear shock in same time to do all work at once.
