Afternoon YPM r's... Build is coming along nicely, licenses are in the post and am hopeful to be on the grid with you guys soon.

Need some info and advice if you would.

- Can you put me in contact with the company that produces the fairings?

- Can you keep a look our for / advise of any 3.5 rear wheels

- Where would you start shopping for a bigger Radiator.

And finally I have put a picture up of the single exhaust manifold I have for an F3 system. Unfortunately I only have one, anyone got a spare? (As unlikely as that may be)

Any help you can give to get me on the grid much appreciated. My thanks....

So far the Bemsee Galleries Unlocked are as follows for Saturday and Sunday please do not pay for individual downloads if your Group is on the list. Only a few have bought so far but I will sort it out with you later. Many thanks for all your support and it would make sense to organise purchase of galleries for Cadwell Park if you are happy. I had the privilege of having Russell Lee with Kent Bad Boyz Photography this weekend and I owe him a big thanks. Please note that at the next rounds there will only be me in attendance. unless of course Russell can be tempted out again. We both made a special effort to get you all in and took far too many photographs. Apologies to the Thunderbike Extreme and Rookies, Sidecars and MRO 600 riders as the light was so bad on Sunday evening we had to call it a day. I am sure no one will be disappointed as we have worked so hard on these galleries.

    MRO 600

    Thunderbike Extreme

    Thunderbike Sport

    Ninja 300 Junior and Senior

Hiya. Any of the YPM lot from the late naughties going to to Brands this weekend? I might take the campervan up on Friday, for the weekend. I know things have changed a bit, but I still know my way around a TZR, so may be able to help any rookies if needed. Shouldn't need a ticket for the main gate on a Friday, but if anyone can leave a spot for a LWB Transporter in the Lower paddock? I take it you all park along the trees about half way down still and paddock access doesn't need a ticket? Tony Greenslade, Steve Higerty, etc? Cheers folks.

Help. please — Yamaha Past Masters Racing Forum

                Help.... please

I've taken the zeeltronic of the ypvs today and wired in a 31k cdi. All the wires were the same colour.

But since doing so it won't run, it try's to fire!

I've rechecked connections, and all seems good.

Would it try and fire with a defective cdi? The stator is f2, does the wiring need changing to work with a 31k cdi?

                Tia

Finally got to ride the ypvs yesterday at a very wet snetterton.

The engine was rebuilt by the previous owner, pistons looked new and it had fired up ok and sounded ok. So left it alone???

Saturday night I realised the clutch was stuck, removed the cover and found that the inner lower part of the crank case has been painted and was coming off and formed a horrid sludge! All cleaned up and clutch removed cleaned and stuck it back, and a bolt snapped off in the hub pillar, certainly was not tight.. this was 10pm sat, so boxed it up and ran it with 1 less spring,Expecting it to slip.

                    Couldn't believe it didn't.

1st handful of front brake and realised the discs are badly warped.

Ill have it sorted for the weekend, but won't be looking to my usual standard.

Look forward to meeting you, and picking your brains.

Good evening everybody :-). As I am going to be fit to race any minute now, I have been on the Bemsee site trying to get organised. The first realistic meeting for me will be Silverstone in April but all the YPM slots seem to have gone. Does anybody know if my YPVS will be eligible for the Blue Haze class so I can get a run out?

It is with deep sadness I post here today. I have just heard that former ypm rider Peter Flynn passed away on Sunday following a short illness.

Many of us long time ypm members will remember some epic track battles with 'purple pete' so called from the colour of his bike, and the ypm parties that pete was so keen to be part of.

Condolences and thoughts go to his family at this the saddest of times.

                              RIP Peter.

Bit of advice please for my first meeting at brands. I'm turning up Friday mid morning in my old 2 seat pickup and an 8x4 trailer for the weekend. I cant remember if I was told if there was power or not at the site. if I don't manage to sought some sought of awning out in time then my trailer will be full with my bike and gear..... So will need somewhere near to pitch my small tent with perhaps the luxury of a fan heater if needed.

Engine woes (or is it paranoia). Put in an engine that had a top end refresh over winter. First track day and it sounded odd. Second track day today and it vibrates more than it should, also the exhasut note has changed. It almost sounds like there is an air leak. I am taking the engine out to have a good look. Any suggestions as to the cause? Check the exhausts, base gaskets etc. Plugs were a little black after one session. I have another engine lined up to go in to see if it is the engine. Stator, pick up all ok, Cheers M

                                    But need some Advice/help.

Ive got a project for my TZR 2ma I have a set of 3ma front forks I want to fit on to give me a twin disc on the front end. The problem is the yokes on the 2ma are not big enough to take the forks & not wide enough to enable the 2 disc's to be fitted, so I need 3ma yokes which I dont think will go into the tzr frame without some adjustments, but I was wondering if there was a set of yokes that the 3ma forks will fit to & possibly fit straight into the 2ma ie such as R1 Z250 yoke,

But a plan is to remove the bottom yoke shaft from the 2ma & put it into the 3ma yokes, it may need some collars to fit it in the 3ma yokes

                                    Appreciate any advice

                                    Thanks

Would prefer the buyer to come and view , im in Warrington Cheshire and anything I make will be going towards my engine build so be gentle! 2ma motor came with a tuned top end! But it's on 2,00 little known about any of the parts only set with pistons are the 2,00s , any pics required , got casings etc too , all barrels need a rebore I can clean and measure as required don't think a tzr will be coming along anytime soon with no motor so they may as well go! Cheers!

For sale #45. The time has come where I have to give up my little pride and joy to fund my mountain course addiction. A well sorted bike capable of winning races and consistently put me on the podium. Bob Farnham tuned engine, 1.5 over pistons, crank has done less than one season since rebuild, billet clutch basket , maxton cartridge kit in front , with as good as new hagon Shock in the rear, jolly moto pipes, blue spot with brand new pads in. Comes with a bunch of spares including stator, cdi, all the sprockets you will ever need plus lots of other bits such as wheel bearings and the like, service and parts manuals, 2.5 litres of motul oil, dyno sheets to back up power figures plus wets on wheels with discs.

The bike is well known around the YPM paddock and has wanted for nothing since I bought it.

It's most of my N2 which will come with new paint kit, Farnham Tuned barrels ( same spec as Higgsys Loctite) matching frame and casings, Gibson hydroformed pipes, rear sets and enough spares to start a YPVS. Sprint damper etc there is a host of goodies.

Bits missing are dog bones, throttle and a race loom, electrics are all there though. I can build the loom if required.

Be quick though she ends on Sunday.

Hi Everyone, Dave and I hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year. First of all Dave and I would like to say a huge Thank You for the kind words from Allan Sexton, just before Christmas in regards to the loss of our James. He was a huge part of our race weekends and would always attend when he could. We are so humbled and honoured that you guys as the YPM family would like to help us honour James by holding a Memorial Race. Dave would like this to happen at the first Snetterton race meet as this is where James and Dave were first introduced to Bemsee and the MZ'S. It is also where last year, Dave raced in honour of James and where the family and friends attended to remember James. Also in honour of James we are looking into getting a trophy made and would like to award it for one of the Saturday races to the Outstanding Rider of preferably Race 2 but if only 1 race is ran, then from that race. I have also managed to secure memorial t-shirts with James's Logo and a photo of James for £7.95, which if people are willing to round it up to £10 then we would donate the extra funds to the Craig Jennings fund. So if you still haven't ordered a t-shirt yet, could you please let me know asap as I'm looking for the cut off date as the 28th February 2017. Thank you all once again for being such a fantastic bunch of people and accepting us into the YPM family. Lots of Love Dave & Cat xxxxxx

Happy new year everyone. A little off topic but still relevant for the Tzr.

I'm currently rebuilding my triumph Daytona including all bearings. Now all I've ever done are the wheel bearings on the Tzr which involves knocking them out with a screwdriver and putting them back in using a socket. The problem is, there are different sizes on the Daytona etc so I'm looking at investing in a proper set of bearing extractors and pullers etc. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I think some of the draper kits actually grip the inner race of the bearing while you drive them out etc.

Also there are proper kits for driving the bearings back in as I had to buy the correct socket size last time for the wheel bearings etc and wondered thoughts on these too.

Finally, is it work investing in a fork seal driver tool and are there special tools for changing the headstock bearings?

Advice is appreciated apart from sarcastic comments from the likes of Malcolm Hutcheon

G'day fellas . I am asking for a bit of advice on which tyres you are running on your TZR 's .

I have been running a Pirelli Super Corsa 110 /70 x 70 on the front which has been a good tyre with plenty of grip

On the rear however ,I am running a Pirelli Diablo Rosso 140/70 x17 . When the tyre was first fitted the sidewall had ripples in it as it is too wide for the rim . The the tyre shop said it would be fine but as the tyre has worn , the ripples have come through to the tread and caused flat spots making it dangerous to race with .

I don't think they make a Super Corsa to fit the rear hence ending up with the oversize Pirelli Diablo . Any advice on preferred tyre brands and tyre sizes would be much appreciated . It is a 2ma 1987 TZR with standard rims .

                                                    Thanks !

YPM Calendar Craig Funds — Yamaha Past Masters Racing Forum

                                                      YPM Calendar - Craig Funds

Ok a massive thankyou to everyone that bought at least one calendar -

The best thing about this, you topped up the fund by adding a few quid to your calendar payments by £171.50 - so this means after the costs for production and postage we have collected a massive £850 for Craig Jennings Fund.

I have spoken to Rebecca Jennings and Craig and they are both very very grateful to you - This means as a minimum Craig can continue to book sessions with his personal Trainer that continues to help with strength, mobility and in general overall well being.

Considering most of the people that have bought the calendars have never even met Craig means that much more and just shows what a wonderful group of individuals you are and together shows why this is the best class in the paddock.

In my book that is an excellent New Years gift :)

See you in the paddock soon.

The previous work from Tony Hoare, the photographs from Liz Barber and a fantastic deal given to me by 'The Printroom' in Oracle has enabled us to bring this together again - Next Year I will be more organised - I promise

As we all look forward to Christmas, spending time with our families etc. Can you all spare a thought for David Paterson (& Cat Gunnell), who is spending his 1st Christmas without his son.

In case you didn't know, Dave’s son was tragically killed in a car accident on April the 10th (the Sunday night after Donington).

I didn't get to meet Dave’s son & only really got to know Dave (& Cat Gunnell) from Oulton Park onwards.

I now see Dave (& Cat Gunnell) as a valued member of the YPM family & I would personally like to pay a tribute to Dave’s son, by wearing a commemorative T-Shirt at one of the races next season.

I've already spoken to several of you at the Dinner & Dance & several more of you at the Rookie Day, with positive response. I also spoke to Dave at the Rookie Day for his permission.

Dave is OK to order the T-Shirts, but I wouldn't expect him to pay for them, so if we could all please help out with the cost a shirt (£10 or less?).

Although if Dave is out of pocket, in any way, I have promised to pay the balance.

If Dave could order 30? shirts, in various sizes (unless you could let him know your size – over leathers).

I’ll start the order with a 3XL? for me (XL shirt size & UK48 leathers).

Don’t worry if you need to wear a Rookie vest next season, as you can still wear the T-Shirt underneath the vest.

I have left it up to Dave to decide which meeting he would like this tribute to happen at – I think it will be Snetterton?

Thank you all, in advance for your support.

Allan Sexton (YPM family member #25).

Does anyone have a set of overbored/spare carbs they would sell? I'm working on getting some power from a Yam YR5 this winter and after trying my TZR carbs on it they'll be worth using (but obviously I'm not nicking them off my race bike).. Overbored would be fine, they absolutely definitely aren't for my TZR for next year, promise!

Plans for December — Yamaha Past Masters Racing Forum

                                                            Plans for December?

So it’s the Bemsee Open Day at Brands on Sunday December 11th from 10:30 – 17:00. Tracey has reserved us a spot in the Kentagon and I said we’ll bring a bike along as well as some warm bodies. So three things:

                                                            1) Please can we all urge our nearly racer friends to come along and see what’s what?

                                                            2) Who fancies coming along to promote the club and talk bikes all day? The bars open from 12 to 5ish and I may bring some mince pies

                                                            3) Who might be able to bring the club bike (or failing that their own bike)?

This is a great chance to get people on our grid so I’m hoping a few of you can make it.

Team Points revisited - can I propose following for next season?

                                                              - Teams consists of max 3 riders

Teams should be made up of an even spread of talent. As an example, a team made up of Mark, Matt, and Scott would NOT be accepted (do I have to state the obvious?)

                                                              Ideally,

                                                              1 x Full and 2 x Clubman, or

                                                              2 x Clubman and 1 x Rookie, or

                                                              2 x Full, or

                                                              3 x Clubman, etc.

In a team of 2 where one rider doesn't do a round - tough... Teams need to be submitted before the first round. In the case of injury, a substitute can be brought in.

No need to nominate scoring riders from teams of 3.

Thoughts please? Steve? Kevin? Len? Anyone? Everyone?

Not to impress the laydeez so much as protect my body when I fall off. As many of you know I had a little spill in the last race and am fine, but I did notice my race suit offers zero padding at the hip as I skidded along into the gravel trap. This seems nuts when your hip is highly likely to bang into the tarmac at some stage. Presently I have a black and blue bruise the size of a goalkeepers hand. So my question is, what, if anything, do you lads use for (hip) protection?

Eg, grid slots 1-20 are YPM in qually order, and 21-40 are Blue haze or Vice versa? My reason for saying this is that when Steve Redhead out qualifies me into say 7th and im 8th, i would like to start at the side of him, rather than 5 places further back with the open 2 strokes in between. Is this possible Mark Dent ?

They agreed we could for a 25 quid donation to their charity, so we're booked. They normally get 5000 bikers there who end up at the racecourse to look at the stands and of course the highlight being Andy Muse and band.

Quick and easy one... what is the standard bearing used in the Brembo 2.75 and 3.50 wheel please? Collecting a pair this week and will replace them as a matter of course.

In the meantime, not so quick and easy one... I saw a thread on the forum (think it was Mike Wake) going on about spacers, clearance for the blue-spot, and centralisation. Does anyone have a definitive yes/no as to the front wheel use, and if yes a drawing for the spacers, please?

                                                                              TIA (insert beer emoticon here)

What's everyone using for throttle cables? After noticing bogging down off idle on Sunday and some shocking starts, I checked out the carbs last night and found nearly 3mm lift on the left carb slide before the right started. After much adjusting and readjusting of the slides, I've concluded the Venhill cables are shite - can I use a standard one minus the PV and oil pump bits? Any other alternatives available?

                                                                                  A. It's a wonderful motorcycle ridden by a superb talented rider

                                                                                  B. What's an LC? Is that the red and white thing that's lost it's fairing?

                                                                                  D. That *&!!£ng LC!

Thanks to Len Whalin, Steve Higerty, for the suspension advice. Paul Whitby for the chain, but most of all to Sacha Gyte for the boots, plugs and hospitality of Sally Rowlandson. The social side with you two more than made up for the problems I had. I don't think I have ever laughed so much. The help and support of the YPM Family never ceases to amaze me. And of course Gary Button for welding again. See you all in October

It was great to catch up with everyone at Brands on Sunday, and to see such a healthy YPM grid. Well done all, I hope everyone got home safely.

So, it is that time of year again, when we have to sort out the prestigious YPMRC Season End Awards. As with last year we are opening up both the Most Improved Rider and Best Prepared Bike awards to a vote. If you have raced with YPMRC at least once this season you get to vote (just one name for each award please).

When voting for the Most Improved Rider, you might consider someone who has come on leaps and bounds since last season, or you might consider those that have finally found that elusive final half a second to claim a pot or a podium after years of trying, these guys are equally impressive.

The Best Prepared Bike may be a thing of beauty, but you might want to consider the meticulous preparation that goes on under the skin too. Anyway, you decide on this, and the most improved rider too, it’s your call.

We also need your help with the Spirit of YPM award. We need nominations, and then the co-ordinators will discuss these, plus their own ideas, and come up with a winner. So please think about who has embodied the spirit of the class most, on or off track, Remember this award does not necessarily have to go to a rider. Previous winners have included Billy Silcox and Elain Higlett.

The Yambits Club Bike Rider of the Year award will be discussed by those involved in running/hosting the Club Bike again this year.

The 2016 Crasher of the Year championship is being contested as hotly as the race championships, all will be revealed at Brands in October. You don’t get to vote for this one, the winner gets it on pure statistical merit.

So, get thinking, get voting/nominating. Send your names to me for Most Improved Rider, Best Prepared Bike and your nomination for Spirit of YPM, by email. Trevor.sharpe@barnack.com or PM me on here. The awards will be presented at the last round.

I think Andy had similar results on his bike....put a big smile on my face:-).bit skint now so selling these swarbrick pipes that came with my other tzr im building, wanting £100 with collars and springs but no cans, their pretty tidy but looked to have been brazed/welded at some point

Im using the race supplies gear linkages and wondered if anyone has had this same problem. From the start i hook first and then spent 2 seconds trying to get 2nd gear kicking away, clutch in, clutch out, swear, kick, push pull, swear etc etc. Hitting Neutral around barn was interesting!!!!!

I run a race shift and Paul Davis mentioned maybe putting a selector straight on the gear selector shaft but im sure this will work the wrong way round?

A loveable character loving life and pursuing his dream of motorcycle racing - He brought a lot of fun and character to the paddock - he met the amazing Rebecca and in April 2010 they got married - His first race back was in July, just 3 months later at Brands, laughing his way through the Friday test day loving being back in the paddock - race 1 on Saturday he was involved in an accident at the top of paddock and ultimately was in a coma for roughly 3 months - he came out of this, resulting in brain Damage - Craig's and Rebecca's life changed for ever - but he and they keep fighting - He is progressing all the time - his journey is incredible and there is no doubt Rebeccas support has got him to where he is today - There is always something that can be done, physio, equipment, therapy, care that can improve and help Craigs journey - Bottom line is Craig is one of us and where we can we like to give a helping hand - I will always remember the Cadwell Curries that Craig excelled in, always happy to help you finish your helping - so its fitting this is just one of the places where we can send a little cash his way to help with whatever he may need...

There are people that have helped Craig since joining YPM having never even met him, he was infectious, loved the club and the people in it and was always ready to help out and do his bit.

Anything over and above the food bill we will give to Rebecca Jennings who will ensure its put to Craigs benefit..

I have spoke to the Indian and he would like our order as soon as possible on Friday evening if we can if not then early Saturday at the latest .

So I am posting the menu on line if you can't read the text and cannot enlarge then please visit their website which is www.letaj.net

Could you then please let me know what you all require ASAP you can add it onto this post or email me on sallyrowly@yahoo.co.uk.

I am going to try to make it more efficient this time ....hopefully by writing out labels with main course dish and persons name on and give these to the takeaway to stick on instead of writing as this is what seems to slow us down when we return to the paddock.

Ok so if you can all do this for me as quick as you can then Karen and I will come round and just collect money from you on Saturday rather than chasing everyone up for their orders.

It's going to be a cracking night !

This year they'll be a snip at £17.50 each with over £5.00 of that going to support the club bike and all the great stuff we do together.

The image below gives you a rough idea of the design, though we might shrink the logo on the front a bit and use premium black cotton t-shirts. Hoodies will also be available in premium grey at £30 - this would give us over £10.50 towards the club.

To order please email pjsmiddleton@gmail.com with your full name, the sizes you want plus your mobile number by 05 Aug. Please use "T-SHIRT/HOODIE ORDER" as the title of your email. I'll then ping you payment details.

These items will make great gifts so please be generous and kit out your entire family and friends! It's a good look i promise.

I am working on the weekends images and they should be up by tomorrow evening. Having looked over the images today and with the rain and mist leaving most of the images looking very dull and flat we have decided to post two edits of each in the Galleries.

We do understand that most of you do not want photographs and that you are all on tight budgets. I know our regular clients will buy one or two but we are staying with the 50% off £2.50 per image. Buy any edit and we will send you the other one for free. If you buy Photographs we will send you the edited High Resolution image as well.

We do offer for £70 the whole gallery with unlimited downloads for riders, friends and family who may like downloads even if you don't. Like we said only a few pounds each rider per class. We managed to have a good chat with Hilary Hardy and we will also speak with Jenny Triker Wells and Liz Barber in due course. We are not here to upset the Paddock we are here to support you all including the other long term photographers.

As always we are grateful for any support.

We've had such an ace time with you all and you've have made the transition from the MZ camp to the YPM camp so easy and welcoming. Can I just say a big thank you to the following Peter Mannering for your words of wisdom, the laughter, the chat and for sorting out my carbs. Mark Taylor & Keith Taylor for the banter and being your usual selves. Steve Higerty for the loan of the correct front wheel for my wets and to Andy Tempest for the diagnosis (ie. Being ripped off on Evil Bay.) Mungo Prentice for the talking to and tips on "just going for it" Steve Redhead can you let your good lady wife know (Sorry didn't ask her name) that she is an absolute diamond for the tea and sausage cobs! Cat thinks she's an absolute star!! They were a treat. Scott 'Kingsley' Grant thanks for the hints and tips on stuff for the bike and I'll definitely be booking you in for the paintwork. Cat also wants to thank everyone and a special Ta to Sarah English for helping her out (you know what she means.) Can't wait to see you all at Cadwell, just let us know which way to camp in

Have 34mm carbs, JL pipes and a programmable ingitech ignition. It is also possible to program the YPVS. Dont know the status of the cylinders and heads. Pulls strong from 8000rpm to about 10500rpm. Running on the fat side of the jetting. Do you know where to find good tuning tips for the TZR? Which other cylinders fit to this bike? I can go up to 400cc in the class which I race.

                                                                                                              Other race modifications recomended?

I believe it had all bearings replaced after powder coating in black. Im sure those with more experience will tell me if i am correct but i believe it has been modified to run extra ride height at the rear? It came as a spare when i purchased it from Gavin Price and im sure he mentioned it was for extra clearance? can you remember Gav? I dont need it as im hapy with the bikes current set up

I run one of these with the Pirelli tyres and works a treat. Will need the disc face machining around 4mm so you can use a standard disc. Will come with suitable wheel spacers to fit a standard TZR 250 and will come fitted with brand new KOYO bearings. In pretty good fettle with only minor paint flaking
